| Having rebuilt several engines I can tell you that it can be just a matter if following the FSM and aftermarket parts mfg specs to the letter and everything will work. As long as you clean and inspect everything for clearances you will be fine. If you don't want to do a rebuild I would at least pop the rod caps and check the bearings and ring gaps on the pistons to assess wear. If everything looks good then slap it back together and have piece of mind. The only component on the engine that worries me at that hp level is the pistons but with a good tune they are fine. Forged pistons just give you a little more safety. If you do rebuild it you will need a set of mics, feeler gauges, ring filer, ring expander, ring compressor and torque wrench at minimum. Any big reputable machine shop can also do the bottom end assembly for less than the cost of tools.
